Unpacking the Memories:
Stories of Meaningful Moves
At Packhorse Moving, we know that moving isn’t just about boxes and furniture — it’s about the pieces of your life that come with you.
Behind every item is a story, a memory, a moment that matters.
We’re proud to be part of those journeys, and today, we’re sharing some customer stories about the sentimental treasures.
Because sometimes, what we’re really moving… is memories.
🧸 “My Dad’s Old Armchair” – Maria, King of Prussia, PA
“When my father passed, I inherited his recliner — the same one I used to crawl into as a little girl during movie nights. It was old, squeaky, and definitely not Pinterest-worthy…but it’s priceless to me. Packhorse Moving wrapped it like it was the crown jewels, and I’ll never forget how one of the movers said, ‘We’ll treat it like it’s our own grandpa’s chair.’ That meant everything.”
🎻 “The Violin That Survived the War” – Samir, Cherry Hill, NJ
“My grandfather’s violin came with him when he fled Europe during WWII. It’s been in our family ever since. I was incredibly nervous about moving it across state lines. The Packhorse team brought a custom-padded case and carried it separately in the cab of the truck. It arrived flawless. I cried when I opened the case — not because I was worried anymore, but because someone else understood how much it mattered.”
📚 “Boxes of Books, Full of History” – Jen & Caleb, Newark, DE
“My husband and I are both history professors, and over the years, we’ve collected hundreds of rare books. Some are first editions, others have handwritten notes from the original owners dating back a century. The Packhorse team didn’t flinch when we said we had 40 boxes of books. They packed them tightly, evenly, and even asked us if we had a preferred way for them to be stacked on shelves after the move. That level of respect for our passion — it stuck with us.”
🖼 “The Painting from Our First Apartment” – Tara, Philadelphia, PA
“It’s not worth much to anyone else — a goofy watercolor of a cat riding a bike that we bought at a flea market when we moved in together. But every time we look at it, we remember that tiny apartment and how we built our life from scratch. Seeing it hung up in our new home after the move made it feel like ours again. It was the last thing we packed… and the first thing we unpacked.”
🏆 “My Son’s Little League Trophy” – James, Norristown, PA
“My son won his first baseball trophy at age 9. He’s 21 now and headed to college, but that trophy’s still on his shelf. During the move, one of the movers noticed it was loose and took the time to bubble-wrap it individually. It wasn’t asked for. It wasn’t labeled. But they saw it and knew it mattered. That small act said a lot about Packhorse Moving.”
💛 Because It’s Never Just Stuff
We move pianos, mattresses, boxes, and wardrobes — but more importantly, we move stories.
Whether it’s a grandfather’s violin, a flea market painting, or a battered old recliner that still smells like home, we treat every item with care because we know what’s really inside those boxes: memories, love, and chapters of your life.
Got a story like these?
We’d love to hear it — and maybe even feature it in a future edition of Unpacking the Memories.
